  • Diving from The Espiritu Hotel

Pacific Dive offers both recreational and technical diving tours on SS President Coolidge, Million Dollar Point, USS Tucker and reef diving at Aese Island as well as freediving and spearfishing tours.

    Pacific Dive’s dive sites:

    SS President Coolidge (shore dive)

One of the best wreck dive in the world! The SS President Coolidge was a luxury passenger liner converted to a troop carrier during WWII. Almost completely intact, you can swim through the numerous holds and decks viewing the reminders of her glorious days as a cruise liner and the remnants of her days as a troop ship. Guns, cannons, jeeps, helmets, trucks and personal supplies left by some of the soldiers can be seen, as well as the beautiful porcelain statue of “The Lady,” chandeliers and a mosaic tile fountain. The wreck is covered in coral and is home to a plethora of sea life including barracuda, lion fish, and a host of reef fish.

If you want to see the whole 200 metre long wreck, you’ll need at least 10 to 15 dives but you can certainly get a feel for her magnitude and majesty on even a few dives. Depth: 20 – 72 metres

    Million Dollar Point

At the end of WWII, thousands of tonnes of US military equipment was dumped into the sea. Named for its worth, there are a multitude of bulldozers, cranes, fork lifts, ships and trucks piled upon one another in this unique dive site just up the road from the famed SS President Coolidge. The mangled mess of metal is one of the most incredible and unique dives you can do. This site is perfect for underwater photography with its always crystal clear blue water. Maximum depth: 40 metres.

    USS Tucker

The USS Tucker is an American Destroyer made mostly of stainless steel. She is 115 metres in length and sank just months prior to the SS President Coolidge. Cruelly dealt the same blow as the Coolidge, she struck a friendly sea mine before sinking off the coast of Malo. She lies on a sandy bottom with excellent visibility all year round. A very easy dive and a great choice to “Off Gas” towards the end of your trip in Espiritu Santo. Depth: 16 – 22 metres.

    Aese Island

Aese Island is a private uninhabited island on the east coast of Santo exclusive to Pacific Dive. You will not see any other divers or tourists on Aese Island!

This is one of the most stunning reef dives in all of Vanuatu. This highly protected dive site ensures calm waters, little to no current and crystal clear visibility. Aese Island has it all — reef fish, swim throughs, chasms, crayfish, an abundance of spectacular hard and soft corals that seem to go on forever, fields of gorgonian fan corals, large schools of small bait fish including fusiliers, spanish dancers and schools of dog tooth tuna. This is a photographer’s paradise!

A dive tour to Aese Island includes transfers, pig on the spit (island style) for lunch and beverages to wrap up the day.
