Dive Map of Australia Queensland

Queensland is Australia's second largest state measuring more than 1.72 million square kilometres, 25% of Australia's land mass, which is four times the size of Japan, nearly six times the size of the UK and more than twice the size of Texas in the US.

It is arguably the most ecologically diverse state in Australia, with arid inland cattle grazing environments contrasting sharply with world renowned natural landmarks such as the Daintree rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

    The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is a broad chain of around 2,900 individual reefs and is the Earth's largest structure built by living organisms. It is an incredible ecosystem of unsurpassed marine diversity and presents divers and snorkellers with a vision of natural beauty unmatched anywhere else in the world.

Beyond the continental shelf that harbors the Great Barrier Reef, lie the isolated reef systems and crystal clear waters of Australia's Coral Sea. This is home territory for huge schools of pelagic fish and sharks in an undersea world of mountains, pinnacles and sheer walls laced with gorgonian fans, rising from thousands of feet below.

The chains of islands in and around the reef provide further locations of interest for those looking for a tropical getaway as well as diving enthusiasts, including Heron and Lady Elliot Islands.

    Heron Island

    Dive Heron Island Australia

Heron Island is a true coral cay located right on the Great Barrier Reef. Here you can swim straight off the beach to an endless garden of coral where the water is literally teeming with beautifully coloured fish and marine life.

There's a relaxed island lifestyle that sets Heron apart, a sophisticated yet casual resort atmosphere. Here the emphasis is on exploring and discovering the natural attractions that have made Heron famous around the world.

If you're a non-diver, the island offers a range of wildlife and ecology tours as well as beach picnic hampers and nightly entertainment. The snorkelling at Heron Island is exceptional and it's also a fantastic place to learn to dive.

    Lady Elliott Island

    Dive Lady Elliott Island Australi

Lady Elliot Island lies 80 kilometres north east of Bundaberg, and is easily accessible by daily flights which land at the island’s own airstrip. A limited number of guests are allowed on the island at any one time.

One of the top dive and snorkelling sites in the world, Lady Elliot Island is the southern most coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef. Step off the beach and snorkel, swim or scuba dive in the world's richest marine eco-system. A true island paradise, Lady Elliot Island is a popular destination for families and leisure groups keen to explore this rich marine eco-system.
