Truk Master LayoutTruk Master

The Astral Star, a long range cruiser built by Codecasa and designed by Camper Nicholson, has joined the Master Liveaboards brand undergoing a full refit prior to her re-launch as the Truk Master in February 2016.

Built of steel and with a cruising speed of 10 knots, the 37 metre Truk Master will welcome you onboard for some of the best wreck diving in the world! The 4 decks provide ample space for relaxation, recreational and technical dive equipment as well as your underwater cameras and accessories.

Truk Master will commence 10 and 11 night seasonal Bikini Atoll itineraries in May 2018. Bikini Atoll charters are run between May and September. For the remainder of the year, Truk Master is based in Truk Lagoon.

Bikini Atoll charter dates coincide with flights on United Airlines ex Honolulu to Kwajalein. From Kwajalein Airport you will be shuttled to an Army ferry taking you to Ebeye Island from where you will embark Truk Master for the 25 – 30 hour journey to Bikini Atoll.

Diving on the Bikini wrecks is respectfully recommended for experianced divers only with a minimum of PADI Tec 40 level or equivalent, with wreck experience, as the average depth of the wrecks is around 30-50 metres. To get the most out of your dives in Bikini Atoll, highly recommended are:

TDI – Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures
IANTD – Tech Nitrox
NAUI – Tech Nitrox & Deco Techniques
ANDI – Technical Nitrox and
PADI – Tec 50

Whilst helium is offered on-board, due to the logistical difficulties of obtaining the gas and the resultant costs, clients are advised not to dive tri-mix, or to limit themselves to Helitrox. Truk Master is equipped for supporting rebreather divers. It is possible to use helium in your rebreather as long as you carry the correct certification. Pre-booking of any rebreather supplies is essential to guarantee availability.

The Marshall Islands are an extremely remote diving destination without hyperbaric facilities. The nearest hyperbaric chamber is in either Hawaii or Australia. For this reason, appropriate dive and travel insurance is mandatory for your level of certification and planned dive depths.
