Tawali Dive Resort is nestled in a secluded area of Milne Bay amongst local fishing villages. The private retreat sits on a limestone bluff surrounded by tropical vegetation, overlooking the fringing reefs and deep blue, calm water of Hoia Bay.
Tawali was constructed by local craftsmen and you will find beautifully carved totems and woodwork in the spacious main lodge and throughout the resort. Covered walkways connect the main lodge and observation deck to the beautifully appointed guest bungalows.
There are no roads to Tawali. The resort is accessed via a 90 minute scenic drive from Gurney Airport along the Milne Bay coast and rainforest, followed by a short 15 minute boat ride from the marina over to the resort.
Tawali offers both divers and non divers a unique location to dive, relax and enjoy the unspoiled wonders of this magnificent part of the world.
10 guest buildings each with their own private balcony are set around the top of the bluff. Each building has two spacious, air conditioned rooms or bungalows sharing a common wall. Each bungalows come with 2 queen beds, table and chairs, lounge area, air conditioning, ceiling fans, modern bathroom with solar heated water, fridge, in-room safe, tea and coffee facilities and fresh bottled water daily. All rooms are designed for your privacy from which to enjoy the magnificent water views. Polished timber floors, beautiful wood carvings and a local artist’s paintings complete the well appointed accommodations.
The resort’s main building is perched on the cliff edge and houses the restaurant, bar, lounge with library, reception and office. The large observation deck is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day to enjoy the magnificent views, or watch the dolphins play in the bay.
Three buffet style meals, snacks, juices, tea and coffee are included in the tariff. Sodas and alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the Tawali Bar.
Tawali also has a swimming pool and poolside bar, full service dive centre with Nitrox, tour desk, gift / souvenir shop, kayaks and canoes for guest use.
Tawali offers boat dives and shore dives on their house reef. However, diving is really just part of the Tawali experience. Snorkel, kayak or canoe around the resort.
