Rapopo Plantation Resort is a large colonial-style property located on a working cocoa and coconut plantation, which was also once the site of a Japanese fighter airstrip. The resort is situated on the beachfront overlooking Simpson Harbour and Pigeon Island with Mount Tavurvur volcano offering a stunning backdrop. From the balcony of the luxury, seaside units, you can witness the spectacular views and the magnificent sunsets at the end of each day.
Rapopo Plantation Resort is a short 10 minute drive from the airport, 5 minutes from the town of Kokopo and 20 minutes from Rabaul.
The resort has 3 room categories – Garden & Bayside Deluxe Rooms, Premier Harbour Rooms and Premier Executive Suites. All rooms offer air conditioning, private bathroom facilities and feature polished wooden or tiled floors, flat-screen TV with satellite channels, refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities.
Some of the Deluxe Rooms are interconnecting making them suitable for small groups and families.
Plantation Veranda Restaurant and Bar offers an alfresco dining / bar area with views of the sea and volcano, allowing for fantastic afternoon sunsets and a great place to relax with a drink. The resort has a small day spa beside the swimming pool with swim-up pool bar. Wi-fi is available. Rabaul – Kokopo Dive is located onsite and is at your service to arrange your diving and adventure tours.
Scuba dive and snorkel in safe waters amongst the prolific coral and fish life and WWII wrecks. The resort has direct beach access to the harbour for swimming and canoeing. The tour desk can arrange tours to Bitapaka War Cemetery, General Yamamoto’s Bunker, the Japanese Tunnels, Mt Tavurvur volcano, or to see the traditional Tolai fire dancers or go deep sea fishing.
